Mya recently covered Miami Swim Week with the Hot Coco Cosmetics team. She covered The Art Hearts Fashion event and was the make-up artist for two photo shoots: @maricelmarcantoniart & @belblakcouture_

We asked Mya a few questions regarding her experience as a model and Brand Ambassador.

What inspired you to create a casting agency? What are your goals as a Brand Ambassador?

I love helping people and guiding people to the right tactics to pursue their modeling and acting dreams. I have a passion for coaching and training. And people are always inspired by my drive and ask for my help. My goals as a brand ambassador is to represent fashion and beauty brands to showcase and show value in their products for their target audience. I love to market.

Are you interested in Runway, Commercial or Print?

I’m interested in all 3. I have various print modeling publications, commercial campaigns and runway photos.

Are you also interested in acting as well? What types of roles are you interested in booking.

Yes I’m interested in acting, I’m interested in booking all kinds of roles, I have multiple personalities and can play any kind of character! Back in 2021 I landed my first paid acting gig as a non union actor as a Extra on set . I would love to get a main role one day.

Explain your desire to one day walk in a fashion show for Art Hearts.

As an African American plus-size female, I've always dreamed of walking for a big fashion organization like art hearts show to break down barriers and redefine beauty standards in the industry. I believe that diversity is the heart of true beauty, and by gracing the runway, I want to inspire others who look like me to embrace their bodies and their unique beauty. I envision a future where all types of bodies are celebrated, where young girls of color can see themselves represented in the fashion world, and where the definition of beauty becomes inclusive and empowering. Walking in a fashion show would not just be a personal achievement, but a step towards greater inclusivity and representation in the fashion industry.

What was your experience working with the Hot Coco Cosmetics team during Swim Week?

Working with a professional vegan beauty brand owned by a black female has been an incredibly empowering and enlightening experience. Being a part of a company that values sustainability, ethical practices, and diversity aligns with my personal values and aspirations.

Throughout this experience, I've had the privilege of working with a team that's passionate, creative, and forward-thinking. We've collectively contributed to projects that highlight the brand's values and amplify its mission. It's not just a business collaboration; it's a partnership that resonates with a shared desire for positive change.

What was covering Miami Swim week like as a whole including being the makeup artist for two photoshoots with the brands?

Covering Miami Swim Week as a photographer while also serving as a makeup artist for two photoshoots was an exhilarating and multifaceted experience. The opportunity to capture the essence of Swim Week through the lens allowed me to showcase the creativity and diversity that defines the event.

As a photographer, I was immersed in a world of vibrant colors, bold designs, and unique styles. Capturing the models, the runway, and the overall atmosphere was a thrilling challenge that required a keen eye for detail and an understanding of the industry's dynamic nature. It was both fast-paced and creatively rewarding, as I worked to encapsulate the energy and innovation of the event in every shot.

Simultaneously working as a makeup artist for two photoshoots added another layer of depth to my experience. Collaborating with a Hispanic clothing brand and a black-owned clothing brand provided the chance to translate their creative visions into makeup looks that complemented their designs. Understanding their aesthetics, whether it was a fusion of cultural influences or an expression of heritage, was essential in creating looks that resonated with their brands' identities.

Being a makeup artist for a black-owned vegan cosmetic brand highlighted the importance of representation and ethical choices in the beauty industry. Adhering to their vegan and cruelty-free principles while also catering to diverse skin tones was a challenge I embraced.
